Hansjörg Wyss

Hansjörg Wyss ( born September 19, 1935 in Bern ) is a Swiss businessman and patron.

Wyss grew up in Bern. After studying civil engineering at the ETH Zurich, where he graduated with a diploma, he studied from 1963 to 1965 at Harvard Business School and graduated with a MBA from. He then worked in different positions in the textile industry. In addition, he worked for Chrysler as an engineer and project manager in Pakistan, Turkey and the Philippines. Wyss in 1977 became president of the Synthes Medizinalherstellers and remained so until the sale of the company. 2011/2012 he sold his Synthes shares to the American pharmaceutical and consumer goods manufacturer Johnson & Johnson.

His fortune was estimated in 2012 by the Swiss business magazine balance to 9.5 billion Swiss francs. The writer and journalist Hedi Wyss is his sister.
