Haparanda Archipelago National Park

Haparanda Archipelago is a Swedish National Park in the archipelago south of Haparanda at the northern end of the Gulf of Bothnia. Characteristic are the wide, sandy beaches with dunes, as well as an exotic species-rich plant and bird reserves.

The nature of the national park caused by an eventful interplay of wind, waves and land uplift. The largest island in the park is called Sandskär and is about 400 hectares. With 8.5 mm per year, the land uplift is extremely strong even today.
