Hapoel Tel Aviv F.C.
Hapoel Tel Aviv (Hebrew הפועל תל - אביב ) is an Israeli sports club in Tel Aviv. Particularly well known is the football team of the club, which, of Ligat ha Al plays in the top division of the country. Hapoel plays its home matches at Bloomfield Stadium.
International Hapoel Tel Aviv attracted special attention, as the club won in 1967 at the Erstaustragung 'Cup champions of Asia in the final against the Malaysian representative Selangor FA. 1970 came the team again in the finals of this competition before, but lost this time to the Iranian capital club Taj, which has since been renamed Esteghlal Tehran. 2010 succeeded the first time in the club's participation in the UEFA Champions League.
History
The club has its origins in the Israeli labor movement (→ Histadrut ). The word means Hapoel workers in Hebrew.
Establishment attempts Hapoel go back to the year 1925. It got its present form in 1927 after an association with the Allenby FC. Stadium
The club plays its home games opened in 1962 and renovated in 2000 Bloomfield Stadium in Jaffa. The stadium has a capacity of about 17,500 seats. The club shares the stadium with local rivals Maccabi Terms and Bnei Yehuda.
