Hararghe

Hararghe ( ሐረርጌ härärge ) or Harerge ( Somali: Xararge ) was a province in the eastern part of Ethiopia. Their capital city was Harar.

The province was created after the conquest and incorporation of the city of Harar in the kingdom of Abyssinia 1887. During the following decades also inhabited by Somali nomads lowlands east of the city were subjected to and incorporated into this province. These included, above all, the Ogaden, the Somali region of the clan of the Darod - Ogadeni.

In 1960, the area south of the Shabelle River was separated as its own province Bale of Hararghe. In 1987, the remaining Hararghe was dismantled with the Constitution of the People's Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in the part of provinces of East and West Harerghe and Dire Dawa Autonomous Region, the south-eastern part of the autonomous region was annexed Ogaden.

The Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia of 1995, the former Hararghe between the new Oromia, Somali and Harar region was divided.
