The Hardenberg at Abtsteinach in the Hessian circle mountain road is 593.1 m above sea level. NHN is the third highest mountain in the Odenwald.

Geographical location

The Hardenberg lies on the border between the crystalline Odenwald Near the west and the sandstone -Odenwald in the east. The western slopes and the mountain tops, belong to the sub - district of the municipality Abtsteinach Abtsteinach. At the north-eastern slope lies in a clearing about 505 m the village Siedelsbrunn the Wald- Michel Bach. The south adjoining forest areas above Siedelsbrunn to the summit region are part of the forest district of the core district of Wald- Michel Bach. The ridge of the wooded Hardenbergs extends in a north-south direction to nearly 1 km in length.

Infrastructure

On top of the 135 meter high radio tower Hardenberg is with transmitting equipment of the Hessischer Rundfunk for FM radio and radio relay.

At the northern tip of the Hardenberg was until October 2008 to about 530 m psychotherapeutic clinic at Hardenberg. Since 2010, the buildings are way under the name of Buddha as a Buddhist monastery. Also located on the northern edge of the forest, the sport field at Hardenberg, which is used by FC upper Abtsteinach.

On the 900 m long Hardenberg slope with ski lift is the possibility of winter sports.
