Harkabuz

Harkabuz is a Polish village in the province of Lesser Poland, powiat Nowotarski.

Location

The town lies on Orawka, north of the Tatra Mountains, about 30 kilometers south of Nowy Targ and has about 537 inhabitants. The village name comes from the first community leaders - Bartholomew Harkabuz which was established in 1957, appointed by Jerzy Thurzon the Lord on the Orawski castle. The first settlers were Harkabuzer protectors. Written, the village was first mentioned in 1610 as Harkabuz.

Attractions

  • Small Betsäule was first mentioned in 1818, when she was hanged by Jan Fifański as a votive offering for saving life during the storm on the tree. In its current form the Betsäule since the year 1885. At that time it was built by the couple Jan and Maria Łysiowie.
  • The wooden church was built in 1958.
