Hármashatárhegy

The Hármashatárhegy ( German: Dreihotterberg ) is a 495 meters high hill on the Buda side of Budapest in Hungary. He belongs to the Budai Hegyek ( Buda Hills ).

The name " Hármashatárhegy " means " three- limits Mountain" because until the 19th century three cities together marginalized, namely Buda, Óbuda and Pesthidegkút. Today these places to Budapest, only the boundary between the II and III belong. District passes over the mountain. But whose name has remained unchanged.

The Hármashatárhegy is a popular place for hiking, biking and paragliding, in winter for sledding. There are many hiking trails, over the top cause of Országos Kéktúra and the mountain hiking Eisenach -Budapest (marked blue). There is a TV tower and a restaurant.

Because of the few trees it is very windy on the summit and the snow lasts up to two weeks longer than in the city center. On average, the temperature is a few degrees lower than on the Pest side.
