Härnösand Cathedral

The Cathedral of Härnösand is Sweden's smallest cathedral and is located in the city Härnösand in the Swedish province Västernorrland County.

History

The first church in the town was built in 1593. With the appointment of John Canuti Lenaeus archbishop in 1647 they episcopal church of the diocese Härnösand. The old church was built in 1721 burned down by Russian troops and at the same place of the current cathedral was built. The construction was carried out in accordance with drawings by the architect Johan Hawerman and was completed in 1846.
