Harpers Bizarre

Harpers Bizarre was an American beat band of the 1960s, which was mainly known for their hit singles Feelin ' Groovy and Anything Goes.

Band History

The group was founded in 1963 in San Francisco, its members all came from the Flower Power movement. Drummer John Peterson had previously drummed with the Beau Brummels. Make Love Not War was then a popular slogan that was also worn by the band members. Their music was " sunny, cheerful and dreamy ." The listener noticed especially in their published 1968 album Anything Goes, that the band's name says it all.

The first single was a remake of the Simon and Garfunkel song 59th Street Bridge Song ( Feelin ' Groovy). It became a bestseller. Next, they released a new version of Van Dyke Parks ' Come to the Sunshine and could thus also place in the charts.

The group's success faded in the late 1960 's, when asserted itself slowly harder rock music. Ted Templeman moved in the 1970s on producing. Produced some of the most successful albums of the Doobie Brothers Under his direction.
