Harriette Simpson Arnow
Harriette Simpson Arnow, Harriette Simpson originally only, (* July 7, 1907 in Wayne County ( Kentucky ), † 22 March 1986) was an American author.
Life
Harriette Simpson published her first novel in 1936 Mountain Path, which is based on her experiences as a teacher.
In 1939, she married Harold B. Arnow, a son of Jewish immigrants. Henceforth called Harriette Arnow with second surname. They lived in Pulaski County ( Kentucky) and Henriette again worked as a teacher until 1944 both moved into social housing. Her book Hunter 's Horn became a bestseller and she got some awards such as the Pulitzer Prize.
In 1950, she moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan. In 1954 she published her most famous work, The Dollmaker ( The Dollmaker ). Your last works were The weedkiller 's Daughter ( 1970), The Kentucky Trace ( 1974) and Old Burnside (1977).
