Harry F. Olson

Harry Ferdinand Olson ( born December 28, 1901 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa; † 1 April 1982) was in 1955, together with Herbert Belar inventor of the synthesizer.

Life

He received his Bachelor in 1925 his master and his doctorate in 1928 at the University of Iowa in 1924. In 1928 he went to RCA and developed the unidirectional microphone. During the Second World War he developed underwater microphones. In the late 1940s he developed the standards for HiFi.

In 1962 he presented a voice processing system for speech recognition and speech synthesis.
