Haruomi Hosono

Haruomi "Harry" Hosono (细 野 晴 臣jap Hosono Haruomi, born July 9, 1947 in Tokyo) is a Japanese musician, record producer, film composer and actor. He became internationally known as a band member of Yellow Magic Orchestra.

Life

His career began as a bass guitarist for the psychedelic rock band Apryl Fool, the album The Apryl Fool, published in 1969. Members of this band (including Hosono ) later formed up to the influential folk-rock group Happy End.

In 1978, Hosono, Yukihiro Takahashi and together with Ryuichi Sakamoto, the Yellow Magic Orchestra ( YMO ). After the band broke up in 1984, Hosono released several solo albums and collaborations with other musicians. He also produced albums by artists such as Pizzicato Five, Sandii & The Sunsetz, Miharu Koshi or World Standard, wrote film soundtracks and occasionally performed as an actor.
