Hasan Şaş (2013 )

Hasan Gökhan Şaş ( born August 1, 1976 in Karataş, Adana ) is a former Turkish football player and current coach.

Playing career

Clubs

Şaş began his career at Adana Demirspor, changed in 1995 to MKE Ankaragucu and was taken in 1999 by Galatasaray under contract. In the season 1999/ 00 he celebrated there by winning the UEFA Cup his first success.

After the performances with the Turkish national team during the 2002 World Cup he received several offers from abroad, rejected this but now and continued his career with Galatasaray away. During the 2008/ 09 season he was only a few uses because of a month-long injury. After his expiring contract was not renewed at the red - yellow in summer 2009, he finished his professional career as a footballer.

National

Şaş ' international career began in 1996 with a commitment to the Turkish U-21 national team.

Just a year after his debut for the U -21 he made his debut in the Turkish national team, but came to no use in this nomination. After playing up to the autumn of 1997, the last time for the U- 21 team, he played from now on only for the senior team.

With the Turkish national team, he participated in the World Cup in 2002 and reached her third place. He was regarded as one of the stars of this tournament.

His last international game, he completed on 1 March 2006 in the test match against the Czech national team.

Coaching career

From summer 2011 until the end of September 2013 Şaş took over together with his former teammates Ümit Davala the co- coaching job at Galatasaray Istanbul and thereby assisted the head coach Fatih Terim. After this was released unexpectedly in the fall of 2013 remained Şaş to the presentation of the new Roberto Mancini Cheftraieners in office, and then stepped back.

Trivia

  • Şaş was tested in February 1999 at a doping test positive for doping agents ephedrine. It turned out the Şaş has taken after the flu the drug A- Ferin and was therefore tested positive. The Turkish Football Federation imposed Şaş then a six-month cycle block.
