Hare is an impact crater in the eastern part of the Moon front, southeast of Mare Fecunditatis, south of the crater Petavius ​​and east of Snell. The heavily eroded crater is superimposed in its southern part of the large craters Hare D.

Starting south of the moon rabbit groove system of Rimae hare runs from the crater in southeastern direction.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the German mathematician Johann Matthias Hase.
