Hashid

The Haschid - tribal confederation is the second largest tribal confederation in Yemen. It was led to 29 December 2007 Abdallah ibn Husayn al -Ahmar and is currently (March 2011) by Sheikh Sadiq al -Ahmar conducted.

Members of the Haschid - tribal confederation live mainly in the mountains in the north and north-west of Yemen.

The Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh is a member of the tribe. In the wake of protests in Yemen in 2011, called him Sadiq al -Ahmar, in his capacity as tribal leaders, on 21 March 2011 to resign. On May 23, it came near the house of Sadiq al -Ahmar in al - Hasba, a district of Sanaa, to heavy fighting between members of the Haschid and the security forces.
