Hassan Zirak

Hassan Zirek (* 1921 in Hermila in Bukan, Iran, † 1972) was a Kurdish singer soranischen dialect.

Zirek showed his talent for singing at an early age. He suffered very much in his life and came into exile, where he led a very hard life. He was repeatedly imprisoned and tortured.

In 1953 he went to Iraqi Kurdistan and gave many of his songs in the Kurdish language to the transmitter in Baghdad. By his own style, he renewed hundreds of Kurdish folk songs.

Zirek and his wife Midya Zand had two daughters ( Arezoo & Sakar ) who currently live in Tehran. Hassan Zirek died at the age of 51 years to cancer. On 26 June 1972 he was buried in his hometown of Bokan. He is still one of the most popular and best-known singers in Kurdistan.
