Hastilude#Quintain

The name comes from the fifth Quintana Lagerweg Roman encampment, were held on the daily exercises with the lance. Here, the soldiers ran against a soldier dummy, and attempted to bite through a ring which hung on an arm with a lance. This forms the basis for the names of some medieval jousting tournaments, Italian " Giostra della Quintana ". In the Rider Quintana is with a lance on the shield of armed dummy ( Quintan ) targeted North German Roland also riding. Hence the term " rotating Roland".
