Haus der Technik

The House of the technique has emerged as an exhibition house for industrial goods at the exhibition center of the German East Fair 1925 in Königsberg. The architect Hanns Hopp has a influenced by expressionism dark red brick building located directly at the moat. The sculptor Hermann Brachert created the house brand at the entrance and the workers sculpture. 1935, the building was then renamed " Schlageter house". During the German Ostmesse it was an exhibition hall for machines. Even the heaviest devices could be shown because the hall had its own rail access. In addition, the movie was: " Waldenburg light games" and housed a school and later an institute of the Graduate School there. During the Second World War, the roof collapsed. The building was then only in its outer walls and then was long used as an open marketplace. In 2004 it was from the city of Kaliningrad to an investment company auctioned with the condition to restore the house to renovate and convert it into a department store with secure parking, coffee shops and a rich range of services.
