Hausjärvi

Hausjärvi [ hɑu̯sjærvi ] is a municipality in the south of Finland with 8864 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is situated 20 km east of the town of Riihimäki and 25 km north of Hyvinkää in the landscape Kanta -Häme. The distance to the capital Helsinki is 85 km. Hausjärvi has three population centers: Oitti, the administrative center of the municipality has approximately 2416 inhabitants ( end of 2005), Ryttylä 1842 and Hikiä 1135th

Hausjärvi 1611 detached from the parish Janakkala to a private chapel community. 1856, the first public school in Finland was opened in the village in Erkylä Hausjärvi. Since 1868, the municipality Hausjärvi exists. On the historical municipality of Hausjärvi belonged until 1918 a part of Hyvinkää and until 1922 the current city of Riihimäki.

Attractions in Hausjärvi are the wooden church from 1789 and housed in a 1853 -built granaries local museum.
