Hauteville-la-Guichard
Hauteville- la- Guichard is a French municipality with 453 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Manche in Basse-Normandie region. It belongs to the community association Communauté de Communes du Canton de Saint Sauveur Lendelin. The inhabitants are (it) called Hautevillais.
Geography
The Lozon and Venloue flow in the municipality. Hauteville- la- Guichard located 13 km north-east of Coutances and 16 km west of Saint- Lô in the Bocage.
History
Hauteville- la- Guichard is the home of the Norman kings of Sicily. The sons Tancrèdes de Hauteville, who was Seigneur de Hauteville -la- Guichard, subjected to Southern Italy in the 11th century, to found a kingdom.
