Havana is a city in Gadsden County in the U.S. state of Florida with 1,754 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Havana is located 15 km east of Quincy and about 20 km north of Tallahassee.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 1,754 inhabitants distributed in 885 households. The population density was 365.4 inh. / Km ². 44.6 % of the population were white, 53.6 % African American, 0.1% Native American and 0.5 % Asian Americans. 0.7 % were members of other ethnic groups and 0.5 % of various ethnicities. 1.4% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 34.6 % of all households lived in 25.4 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 63.0 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.29 persons and the average family size was 2.87 persons.

21.3% of the population were younger than 20 years, 21.7% were 20-39 years old, 29.8 % were 40-59 years old and 27.0 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 46 years. 44.5 % of the population were male and 55.5 % female.

The average annual income was $ 40,096, while 20.1 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100 % of the population.

Traffic

Havana is from U.S. Highway 27 (SR 63) and the Florida State Road 12 crosses. The nearest airport is Tallahassee Regional Airport ( around 30 km south).

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 310 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) within the average range. There were two robberies, four injuries, 27 burglaries, 43 thefts and car theft.
