Haydn Keeton

Haydn Keeton ( born October 26, 1847 in Mosborough, Yorkshire, † May 27 1921 in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire ) was an English organist, music teacher and composer.

Keeton had from 1870 until his death as organist and choirmaster at the Cathedral of Peterborough. In 1879 he opened a collection of his own psalm settings for the cathedral choir, which has been constantly expanded and the later Stanley Vann contributed compositions. Among his pupils were Malcolm Sargent, Alfred Whitehead, Thomas Armstrong and William Plant. Keeton also emerged as a composer of church music works for the organ.
