Hazlet is a Township in New Jersey of the United States of America. It is located about 50 km south-west of New York City in the northern part of the New York Metropolitan Area belonging Monmouth County. Hazlet has about 21,000 inhabitants in an area of 14.7 km ².

Location

Hazlet is located south of the Raritan Bay, a bay of the Atlantic Ocean, on the northern shore of the New York City borough Staten Iceland is located. However, the municipality is not enough directly to the sea. By Hazlet leads the Garden State Parkway. History

The township was established on 25 February 1848 as Raritan Township. Before the area was part of the east neighboring Middletown Township. November 28, 1967, she was renamed as a result of a referendum in honor of entrepreneur John Hazlett in Hazlet.

Even in 1940, the community had less than 2,000 inhabitants, in 1950 there were just under 3000, 1960 and already over 15,000 since the 1970s Hazlet has a population of over 20,000.
