Hazmburk

Hazmburk ( German rabbit castle) is one of the most prominent mountains of the Bohemian Uplands, crowned by the ruins of a Gothic castle Hazmburk. The silhouette of the mountain is regarded as the symbol of the Bohemian Uplands.

Location

The rabbits castle precedes the Bohemian Uplands south and is located about ten kilometers south of Lovosice ( Lobositz ) and 15 kilometers west from Roudnice ( Raudnitz ). Immediately at the foot of the mountain are the communities Klapý ( Klapay ) and Slatina and the desert Good Podhora. At the southern foot of the mountain the Rosovka flows.

History

The Gothic castle was built in the late 13th century by the Lords of Lichtenburg and was originally called Klapý. In 1335, the plant became the property of Zbynek Zajíc about von Waldeck ( Zajíc Valdeku ), which was given the castle of King John of Luxembourg. According to the hare ( Zajíc ) in his coat of arms, the plant was now designated as rabbit castle. As a result Zajíc of Waldeck was comprehensively rebuilt the castle. It created new Palasbauten new kennel, farm buildings, a new cistern and the two distinctive towers. Further modifications were made in the 15th century. After the Hussite wars - during which repeatedly and successfully resisted the occupation the siege by the Hussites - the castle was no longer used and fell into disrepair. In 1586 it was designated as desolate.

The steep slopes of the mountain are demolition sites of several landslides in the years 1882, 1898, 1900 and 1939, where in Klapý homes and roads were destroyed.

View

To the north is an impressive panorama of the Bohemian Uplands from Oblík ( Hoblík ) in the west to Saddleback ( High Geltsch ) in the east. When visibility is good and the crest of the ridge is to be seen in the far east. Southeast rises like a " bell jar " of the sacred mountain of the Czechs, the Rip ( Georgsberg ). To the south the view is limited by the flat hills of the Džbán ( Krug Forest).
