The HC České Budějovice ( officially HC Motor České Budějovice ) is a Czech ice hockey club from Budweis, who belongs from any sale of the Extraliga license of sub-prime first league since 2013.

History

From 1913 was played in SK České Budějovice Bandy, after the First World War in other sports clubs in the city. In December 1921, the first game took place in the so-called Canadian Hockey, the SK of the team from Strakonice subject. A week later the club won the first discharged in Budweis Hockey Game against SK Pisek. 1928 Victoria České Budějovice and Slovan České Budějovice combined to form the AC Stadium České Budějovice. This club was 1936/37, founding member of the Czechoslovak Hockey League.

In the first division ( 1936-2013 )

After 1948, the AC Stadium České Budějovice has undergone numerous name changes: 1948/49, in Sokol Stadium České Budějovice, 1949 in ZSJ Obchodní domy České Budějovice, České Budějovice 1950 in SKP. In the season 1950/51 the club from Budweis celebrated the only previous championship in club history. Before the new season, the club was renamed to Slavoj České Budějovice. This name had until October 1965 inventory, when the club came under the auspices of the state-owned company's engine. Engine was 1980/81 runners-up behind TJ Vitkovice. The champion prevented the then valid points rule that there were no points for a draw. 1994/95, the now renamed HC České Budějovice club reached the third place in the Extraliga.

2004, the club was relegated in the first league after the team had only occupies the 14th place in the 2003/04 season. A year later, the club reached the Championship 1st League and secured with a 4-1 against HC Dukla Jihlava 's re-emergence in the Extraliga.

2006 began a collaboration with the main sponsor, Mountfield, a Czech dealer for garden products. From this time the club played under the name HC Mountfield České Budějovice, in the part of the renaming and the club logo and club colors were changed. By winning the main round of the 2007/ 08 HC Mountfield was eligible to play for the newly formed Champions Hockey League and played in a group with the Russian champions Salavat Yulaev Ufa and the Slovakian champions HC Slovan Bratislava.

Sale of the license (2013 )

During the 2012/13 season, the Extraliga agreed a sponsorship deal with the Radegast brewery, which received the exclusive serving approvals at all stages of the game class from the following season. This contract collided with the agreement between the city of České Budějovice and the Budweiser Budvar Brewery provides regarding the name and dispensing rights of Budvar Aréna, the high penalties for serving a different brand of beer as Budweiser in the arena. No agreement between the parties could be reached, the Extraliga license ( including the current players and staff contracts) was sold to a new company operating from Hradec Králové. A few days later it was announced that the original club HC České Budějovice took over the 1st League license of HC VCES Hradec Králové.

Roman Turek has been elected four times to the Player of the Year and was also the 1994 Zlata Hokejka, the highest ice hockey trophy in the Czech Republic. Three team HC České Budějovice were awarded the Rookie of the Year since 1993.

Home ground

The home ground of the HC České Budějovice Budvar is the Aréna, a 1946 -built ice rink, which was roofed in 1967. 2001/ 02, the ice rink has been completely refurbished and received the new name Budvar Aréna. The capacity is 6,421 seats, of which 551 standing places. Owner is the city of Budweis.

Average attendance

The highest average attendance in the history of the Extraliga recorded the HC České Budějovice in the season 2007/ 08, as an average of 5588 spectators flocked to the Budvar Arena. In the playoffs, the same season the Budvar Arena was sold out in six of seven games. The entrance fees in the 2008 /09 lie between 120 and 200 Kč for single tickets and 3500-5900 Kč for season tickets.
