The HC Gherdeina (also HC Val Gardena ) is an Italian ice hockey club based in Val Gardena, which currently plays in the 2a Divisione, the second highest Italian Hockey League, as well as in the Inter - National -League. The home stadium Pranives has a seating capacity of about 2,000 seats.

History

The Hockey Club Val Gardena was founded on October 8, 1927. The team played from 1932 to 1986 continuously in Serie A. In 1973 Willy Comploj founded the Hockey Club Selva in neighboring Wolkenstein. This club won in his almost 30 years of three times the champion of the series B. Later, he served as a partner club for the youth teams of the HC Val Gardena. 1980 B- 1981 World Championship was awarded to St. Ulrich, for the hitherto open ice rink Setil was covered.

In 1986 the club was relegated to Serie B from voluntarily, because you did not follow the Italo - buying frenzy, the massive commitment of double nationals mainly from Canada, the other participating teams. In 1992 he re- promotion to Serie A. The HC Val Gardena also starred in the Alps league.

In 1999, the club was almost on the brink of after a mudflow destroyed the then used Ice Rink St. Ulrich. After this disaster the ice stadium " Pranives " Selva was fused to the home stadium and the club with the HC Selva resident.
