The HC Energie Karlovy Vary is a Czech ice hockey club from Karlovy Vary ( Czech Karlovy Vary ) and belongs to the Tipsport Extraliga.

History
The club was founded in 1932 and initially played only on a regional level. 1951 succeeded in rising to the top division of Czechoslovakia, the first league. 1955 could prove the team in this competition in third place of their season, which lasted into the 1990s, the biggest success of the club. A year later the relegation followed in the second division and 1971 even in the third division. Until the mid- 1990s, the association between second and third division moved back and forth before 1997 promotion to the Extraliga. As a master of the first league of the club took part in the Exttraliga relegation. In this the team had failed on HC Slezan Opava. After the season, the management of HC Becherovka acquired the license of HC Olomouc and rose making it economical in the top flight to the Czech Republic.
Since the 1997/98 season energy is a thing of the top division in the Czech professional ice hockey. Since 2002, the HC energy subsidiary of KAREL HOLOUBEK - Trade Group, as one of the greatest Czech fuel suppliers, through the operation of the ice hockey club and the financial future of the club is assured. At the end of the 2007/08 season the club reached the final of the Extraliga playoffs. There was defeated HC Slavia Prague to power the total of seven games and reached the runner-up.
During the first season of the newly formed KHL the management of the club expressed interest in joining this league. For a competitive team should be composed of the Czech national team, following the example of Dinamo Riga and HC Dinamo Minsk, while a second farm team should play in the Extraliga. But in the wake of the financial crisis, these efforts were discontinued. In December 2008, the club took part in the Spengler Cup and finished fourth.
With the championship in the 2008/ 09 season under coach Josef Paleček - the main round first HC Slavia Prague was defeated in the best- of-seven series 4-2 - the biggest success in club history was celebrated.

Its home games wearing the HC Energie Karlovy Vary to the end of the 2008/09 season in the 4,680 -seat stadium Zimni from Karlovy Vary, built as an art ice rink in 1947 and was roofed in 1975. In 1990, an extensive renovation of the ice rink. The best average attendance reached the club in the first extra - League season 1997/ 98, as an average of 4,318 spectators attended the home games of the club.
From the 2009/10 season home games are in a new multi-purpose arena, the KV Arena, discharged, was begun in January 2007. The opening of the building complex that is to be used for concerts, took place on 19 June 2009.
