The HC Topoľčany is a Slovak ice hockey club of the city Topoľčany, which was founded in 1932 and plays in the second-class Slovakian 1st League since 1993. Play their home games in the club from the Topvar Aréna that holds 3,400 spectators.

History

1932 was founded in Topoľčany the Atleticky club Juventus Topoľčany. Three years later, another Hockey Association was founded with the ŠK Topoľčany, with the AC in 1939 merged. This new club played under the name TS Topoľčany. After the Second World War all sports Czechoslovakia underwent a reorganization, so that the club changed its name several times. Starting in 1968, the sport of ice hockey in Topoľčany could be exercised on a first artificial ice rink - previously had been played on natural ice. Between 1970 and 1972 this ice surface was covered, which improved the training and match conditions seriously. In the late 1970s, the club promotion to the second division split of Czechoslovakia, the first SNHL. However, a year later he rose again in the third division.

Since 1980, a army club called TJ OSCR Topoľčany was stationed in Topoľčany, who served as a B- team of Dukla Trenčín to 1988 and played in the first SNHL. In May 1993 these two clubs merged to HC VTJ Topoľčany, which will then turn in the second division of Slovakia, the first league played. The greatest success of the club's history is participating in the Extra Liga relegation at the end of the season 2004/05. There, however, the team failed to 2:4 at HK Dubnica. A year later renounced the master of the first league, the HC 05 Banská Bystrica, to participate in the relegation. Therefore, the HC Topoľčany participated in this part, but could not stand against the MHC Martin and lost the relegation without a win in four games.

With the dissolution of the army facility in Topoľčany 2006, called the club in HC Topoľčany. At the end of the season 2006 /07 the juniors of the club reached the runner-up in Slovakia.
