HD 24040

HD 24040 is a about 152 light years distant star of spectral type G0 in the constellation Taurus. It has an apparent magnitude of 7.5 mag and is surrounded by a sub-stellar companion with a minimum mass below 10 Jupiter masses.

Spectroscopic companions

HD 24040 is of the sub-stellar companion (HD 24040 b ) orbits, for a period of 3400 d and a mass was determined from at least 4 times Jupiter's mass using the radial velocity method. It could thus act in the companion to an exoplanet. The semi-major axis would be about 8 astronomical units, the eccentricity be about 0,068. The companion is treated as a potential gas planet because of its high mass.
