HD 3346

HD 3346, variable designation V428 Andromedae, is an approximately 700 light years from Earth distant giant star in the constellation Andromeda. It is characterized by an apparent brightness of 5.14 may be seen with the naked eye only under optimal conditions.

Possible companion

Beginning of the 1980s, it was found that the radial velocity of HD 3346 varies with a period of about 600 days, which is attributed to the presence of a companion object. There is speculation that this variation could be caused by a companion with a minimum mass of about 60 Jupiter masses and a semi-major axis of about 2.5 AU. In addition, a radial velocity variation with a period of a few dozen to a few days in 1996 also found. This could be explained with an object with at least 10 Jupiter masses and a semi-major axis of 0.2 to 0.4 AE. However, it could also be the result of other causes, such as acoustic pulsations. The existence of companions to HD 3346 has not yet been confirmed.
