Anti- pirate operations off Somalia
Early December 2008 saved the Absalon around 90 nautical miles off the Yemeni coast pirates from distress. The pirates had driven for eight days due to an engine failure on the water. " After they had pulled the pirates out of the water, flush the Danish navy soldiers whose boat in which they had found, among others, four antitank missiles. "
Beginning of January 2012 the warship rescued 14 hostages from a hijacked fishing boat. In addition, have been arrested 25 suspected pirates. In the hostages it was Iranians and Pakistanis.
In another anti-piracy operation in late February two hostages were killed when the warship took a pirate ship under fire, to stop it when leaving Somali coastal waters. 16 other hostages from Iran and Pakistan were freed. Also 17 suspected pirates are said to have been found on board the pirate ship.
