Heavy D

Heavy D, Dwight Errington Myers actually, ( born May 24, 1967 in Mandeville, Jamaica, † November 8, 2011 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American rapper, actor and singer. He became known in the 1990s, primarily as frontman of the hip- hop group Heavy D & the Boyz.

Life

Myers grew up in Mount Vernon on in the U.S. state of New York. Heavy D & the Boyz was the first band, which was taken at the record label, Uptown Records. She released her debut album Living Large in 1987, which was also commercially successful. However, the breakthrough came with Big Tyme 1989. Died in 1990, one of the Boyz, Trouble T- Roy, at a stage accident. The 1990 album Peaceful Journey was dedicated to him as a tribute album and played for the band a platinum. Among other things, were guest musicians on this album such as Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap, Grand Puba, Q-Tip, Johnny Gill, CL Smooth, Pete Rock, Aaron Hall and Daddy Freddy involved.

In 1990, the U.S. comedy series In Living Color, rapped for Heavy D in the title song. His next album Blue Funk Heavy D flopped, however, and focused on acting with roles in the television shows Roc and Living Single, and later in Riff-Raff and films Life and The Cider contribution (both 1999). 1991 Heavy D contributed the rap part to Michael Jackson's song Jam from the album Dangerous in.

In 1994 appeared Nuttin ' But Love, and has been relatively successful. The 1997 album Waterbed Hev was a commercial success, after which Heavy D dedicated to the television series Boston Public. In the 2002 released movie Big Trouble Heavy D is seen in the role of FBI agents and listen to the song Big Trouble.

On November 8, 2011 Myers died at the age of 44 years after he had been admitted with respiratory distress in a clinic in Los Angeles from a pulmonary embolism caused by a blood clot. Shortly before his death he took on a song with Ziggy Marley, which is included on his 2011 released album Wild and Free. The song is called it.
