Heavy Petting Zoo is the sixth studio album by the band NOFX. It was published by Epitaph Records on 31 January 1996.

History

Heavy Petting Zoo was taken in October 1995 in San Francisco in the Razors Edge Studios and produced by Ryan Greene and NOFX itself. The musical direction of Punk in Drublic was maintained, punchy guitars and melodic, fast punk rock with occasional influences of ska punk. The cover shows a to be interpreted as offensive scene of a man who has his hand sitting on the abdomen of a sheep and also alluded to the album title, a play on words with "Heavy Petting " and a " petting zoo " ( petting zoo ). A vinyl 12 " version of the album shows the man with the sheep at the Sixty-nine, with the variant titles Eating Lamb. This was impounded in Germany after a court decision.

Criticism

On the side of Allmusic the album received 3 of 5 stars. The critic wrote that the album hardly conquer new ground ". Some of the songs are standouts, but most of the album blends together" ( " Some of the songs stand out, but over long distances fuse the pieces together. " )
