Hecataeus (crater)

143.11

Hecataeus is an impact crater on the eastern limb of the Moon front, southeast of Mare Fecunditatis, northwest of the great crater Humboldt, on the edge he is joined to.

The rim is eroded, the interior is uneven and has traces of the superposition of the edge of the secondary crater Hecataeus K.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the Greek geographer and philosopher Hecataeus of Miletus.
