Héctor Lacognata

Héctor Ricardo Lacognata Zaragoza ( born September 6, 1962 in Asunción ) is a Paraguayan politician.

Life

After schooling, he studied medicine at the Colegio Cristo Rey and engaged even during the military dictatorship of General Alfredo Stroessner in 1985 in the center of medical students (Centro de Estudiantes de Medicina). On completion of his studies, he devoted but in the next few years of his professional career as a doctor of pediatrics.

It was only in 2001, he is politically active as he to the campaign manager of the Partido Encuentro Nacional (PEN ) again. During the elections on April 27, 2003 Lacognata was a member of the recently founded Movimento / Partido Patria Querida ( MPQ / PPQ ) was now selected as one of nine representatives of the constituency Asunción. At times, he was First Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies and entered this one for a global ban the use of child soldiers. He also was one of the critics of the former government of President Nicanor Duarte Frutos, who he accused of a fining the number of sufferers at the outbreak of dengue fever in February 2007.

In the parliamentary and presidential elections in Paraguay in 2008, he was elected in the parliament of Mercosur members of his party.

On 29 April 2009 he was appointed by President Fernando Lugo as Foreign Minister of Paraguay.

As foreign minister, he was in 2009 hosted a summit of Mercosur, which dealt with the situation in Honduras in July.
