Hegyeshalom
Hegyeshalom [ hɛɟɛʃhɒlom ] ( German: Hegyeshalom ) is a large village in Hungary Győr- Moson -Sopron county, with an area of 52.66 km ² and 3526 inhabitants ( 2001 census).
Traffic
The border community is located on the M1 motorway and the railway Vienna - Raab said railway line between the cities of Vienna and Budapest. At the railway junction Hegyeshalom branch after branch lines from station Bratislava - Petržalka and to Szombathely on Csorna.
Geography
Hegyeshalom is located in the Little Hungarian Plain in the North West of Hungary. It has a border crossing with nickel village in Austria.
History
For the first time the Hungarian community in 1217 was mentioned. The document pointed to the Szűz Mária Templom out ( Church of St. Mary ), which was situated on a hill. After the war against the Turks the town was settled by Germans. In the 1941 census were of the 3550 inhabitants still about 1800 German who were resettled mainly in the years 1945 and 1946. An upheaval meant the 1863 was connected to the railway line Vienna - Budapest. To date overwhelmingly peasant and German residents now comes the influx of Magyar population proportion who found employment, especially in the railway sector.
