Heidenhain's AZAN trichrome stain

The Azan staining, histological Overview staining. The name is composed of the two color components Azokarmin G and aniline blue - orange gold. Staining was developed by German anatomist Martin Heidenhain (1864-1949), but there are several variations of this staining technique.

With the Azan stain to stain the cell nuclei ( chromatin ) and the cytoplasm red, glial reddish, blue mucus and collagen and reticular fibers dark blue.
