Heidi Renoth

Heidi Renoth ( born February 28, 1978 in Berchtesgaden ) is a former German snowboarder. It was 1997 World Champion in slalom. At the Olympic Winter Games in Nagano in 1998, she won the silver medal in the giant slalom.

Career

Renoth won at their Snowboard World Cup debut on 24 November 1994 in Kaprun in the parallel slalom in sixth place, two days later she was in second place in the slalom for the first time on the podium. The first World Cup victory followed on 6 December 1994 in a slalom in Pitztal. This season, she reached the second place in both the slalom and in the Parallel World Cup. In another, she won three more times second place in a discipline World Cup and in the 1996/97 season she reached the fourth place in the overall World Cup. Overall Renoth took five World Cup victories, 19 second and 14 third places at world cup events.

For Olympic Winter Games Renoth started twice. At the games in 1998, she started in the giant slalom. Here, she reached the fifth fastest time in the first round. With the third-best time in the second round she won with a total time of 2:19,17 minutes the silver medal. At the Winter Games in 2002 she failed to qualify in the parallel giant slalom and reached the 21st place.

Renoth started at five snowboard world championships between 1996 and 2003. Here she won in 1997 in San Candido the world title. 2003 at Kreischberg she won the bronze medal in the parallel giant slalom.

In March 2003 Renoth ended at the age of 25 years, her career and began training as a physiotherapist.
