Geography

The municipality is located in the traditional settlement area of ​​the Sorbs / Wends. In particular, the municipal area comprising the district Grötsch ( Lower Sorbian: Groźišćo ) and the residential parts Radewiese ( Lower Sorbian: Radowiza ) and Sawoda. Through the community's Malxe flows.

History

1411 the village was first mentioned as Henrichsbrugk ( "settlement of Henry at the bridge " ) in documents, making it one of the oldest settlements of Lower Lusatia. The district Grötsch was even in 1344 as Grods ( fortified settlement ) mentioned.

As the name attests, the site's history is inextricably linked with the river Malxe. The Sorbian place name "Most" means translated into German also "bridge". Heinersbrück is designed as a typical, long-drawn street village, whereas the former center of the village Grötsch corresponds to a Angersdorf.

For centuries the village was dominated by large peasant farms; Nowadays the adjacent open pit Jaenschwalde determines the image of the environment.

On 26 October 2003 the until then independent municipality Grötsch was incorporated in the course of municipal reform in Brandenburg in the community Heinersbrück a district. The place Radewiese heard since 1 July 1950 Heinersbrück.

Background: The local legend, the name of the place name to Henry II ( HRR ) is falling. He had built a corduroy road and a wooden bridge to facilitate the crossing of muddy Malxe and its shore region and have also been used several times in the campaigns of Henry II against Poland.

The coat of arms was designed by Uwe heraldist Reipert.
