Heinrich Khunrath

Heinrich Khunrath (* around 1560 in Leipzig, † September 9, 1605 in Dresden ) was a German physician, alchemist, and Kabbalist.

Heinrich Khunrath was born about 1560, the son of Leipzig merchant Kunrat Sebastian and his wife Anna. His older brothers heard of also become known as an alchemist Conrad Khunrath. 1570, at the age of ten years, Henry was enrolled at the University of Leipzig. 1574 he first came into contact with alchemy. In May 1588 he enrolled at the University of Basel, where he received his doctorate on 3 September of the same year as a doctor of medicine. 1589 Henry Khunrath met with the English scholar and magician John Dee. As of December 15, 1591 was Heinrich Khunrath physician to the Bohemian magnate Wilhelm von Rosenberg in Trebon. He was in contact with Johann Arndt, who is said to have commented also one of his works. To Khunraths patients, among others belonged Count Albrecht VII of Schwarzburg- Rudolstadt. On September 9, 1605 Heinrich Khunrath died in Dresden.

Heinrich Khunrath is always brought back to the Rosicrucian Order in conjunction, but only from the 1612 available for research.

Khunrath was known primarily for the engravings in his work Amphitheater Sapientiae Aeternae, the 1595 first appeared.
