Heinrich Schomburgk

Heinrich Georg Schomburgk ( * June 30, 1885 in Leipzig, † March 29, 1965 in Königstein ) was a German football and tennis player.

Heinrich Schomburgk was the son of Leipzig entrepreneur Heinrich Georg Schomburgk and his wife Doris Eugenie, née Heine, daughter of Leipzig industry pioneer Carl Heine.

He won together with the Dresden- Dora Köring ( born July 11, 1880 in Chemnitz) at the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 the gold medal in the mixed doubles. For the ceremony Schomburgk was well prepared, he had specially taken a cylinder for it.

German Championship title he won in 1908 in the men's doubles, 1913 in men's singles and mixed doubles (again with Dora Köring ) and 1922 men's doubles and mixed doubles ( with his wife Toni Schomburgk ).

In his most successful sport, tennis, baseball, Leipzig Sports Club was his sporting home. Since Schomburgk was sporting very versatile, he played alongside tennis with his brother Wilhelm still outside left football at VfB Leipzig, who at that time was the top in German football. In 1903, he was with the club first German soccer champion.
