Heinrich Traxdorf

Heinrich Traxdorf ( Drassdorf, Droßdorf ) ( Birth and death dates unknown ) was an Mainzer organ builder of the early 15th century.

During his working life of the instrument in addition to other cities reached a significant bloom in Mainz. In the 1440s he built three organs in Nuremberg: the great organ of St. Sebald, whose prospectus was destroyed in 1945, and two small organs for the Frauenkirche. Another he created in the collegiate church of the Abbey of St. Peter in Salzburg. Traxdorf was an innovative organ builder and one of the first who deviated from the usual in the Gothic model of block work and the organ is divided into registers.
