Heinz Büker

Heinz Buker ( born July 6, 1941 in Oberhausen ) is a former German canoeist.

Heinz Buker from Altstadener Canoe Club Oberhausen won his first international medal at the European Championships 1961 in Poznan. Together with Fritz Briel, Paul Lange and Friedhelm Wentzke he won the 4-by- 500 -meter kayak season. Buker 1962 won his first national title in the one - kayak over 500 meters, 1965, he repeated his victory, he finished next to 1967, four times the second place behind Holger Zander. With Zander together Buker reached in 1963, both at the World Championships as well as at the European Championships in the double kayak over 500 meters for third place. At the Olympic Games in 1964 only competitions were held over 1000 meters in the men; in the double kayak won the bronze medal behind Buker and walleye boats from Sweden and the Netherlands. 1966 occupied Buker and Zander at the World Championships over 500 meters in second place behind the two Romanian. His last international medal winning Buker at the European Championships 1967 in Duisburg. Together with Bernd Guse, Hans Günther and Holger Zander Buker received the bronze medal with the kayak season.

After his athletic career, he worked up to the entry as country coach at Canoe Association North Rhine -Westphalia in retirement.

Heinz Buker is married and has two adult children.
