Heinz Czechowski

Heinz Czechowski ( born February 7, 1935 in Dresden, † October 21, 2009 in Frankfurt am Main ) was a German poet and playwright.

Life

Czechowski experienced ten years old, the destruction of the city of Dresden. After training as a graphic artist and work as a survey assistant and technical draftsman he studied from 1958 to 1961 at the Institute of Literature " Johannes R. Becher " in Leipzig, where he greatly from George Mason ( Saxon school of poetry ) was affected. 1957 first poems were published in the journal " New German literature." 1961 to 1965 he was an editor at the Central German publishing house in Halle ( Saale). From 1971 to 1973 he was artistic director at the stages the city of Magdeburg. Since then he has worked as a freelance writer. Czechowski is a founding member of the Free Academy of the Arts Leipzig.

Czechowski also emerged as Nachdichter (including Anna Akhmatova, Mikhail Lermontov, Marina Tsvetaeva, Giannis Ritsos ). For the Berlin Volksbühne Mikhail Bulgakov's novel he adapted in 1987 The Master and Margarita.
