Heinz Leymann

Heinz Leymann ( born July 17, 1932 in Wolfenbüttel, Lower Saxony, † 1999 in Stockholm) was business manager, psychologist and is considered a pioneer in bullying research.

Life

Heinz Leymann lived from 1955 in Sweden. In 1978 he wrote a thesis on occupational psychology. From 1982 he was an associate professor at the University of Stockholm. From 1979 to 1990 he was director of research at the National Institute of Labour Studies. In 1990 he received his doctorate at the Psychiatric Institute of the University of Umeå ( Dr.med.sci. ). From 1992 until his death he was professor of Industrial Engineering at the University of Umea.

Works

As his first work on bullying in the workplace is considered an exploratory study, together with Bo -Göran Gustavsson. With his book bullying: psychological terror in the workplace and how to fight against it put Leymann 1993 the foundation for the bullying research in Germany.

Leymann Leymann Inventory of Psychological developed the Terror, a catalog of 45 bullying acts can be determined from the bullying.
