Heinz Schattner
Heinz Schattner ( born June 20, 1912 in Gdansk, † February 2nd 1954 in Munich) was a German weightlifter.
Career
In his youth, the son of a master carpenter liked to play football and turned until the age of 16 to the weight lifting. In the meantime, moved to Berlin, he made rapid progress. From 1934 he raised in the German top class with in the heavyweight division, but had in Olympic champion Josef Manger an indomitable opponents. In 1936 he moved to Munich and joined the TSV 1860. From 1939 to 1945 he was a soldier and in 1943 was severely wounded. From 1945 to 1949 he formed together with his wife and son a troupe and performed in vaudeville. It was only when he was a merchant in Munich was settled in 1950, he was still able to accommodate four successful years as a weightlifter. He died unexpectedly after surgery, only 42 years old.
