Helen Reddy

Helen Reddy ( born October 25, 1941 in Melbourne, Australia) is an Australian former singer and film actress, who also has an American passport since 1974. In the 1970s, she was one of the most successful singers in the United States with numerous big hits.

Career

Overall Reddy was three times topped the American singles chart: I Am Woman (1972 ), Delta Dawn (1973) and Angie Baby ( 1974). All three hits and the single Leave Me Alone ( Ruby Red Dress) were each awarded a gold record for more than one million units sold. I Am Woman also received a Grammy for best female vocal performance.

International at Capitol Records, Reddy's numerous publications were also on the German market ( Distributor: EMI ) published. However, they could never take a foothold here. However, two of their most famous films were successful in the domestic cinema: giants in the sky (1974) and Pete's Dragon (1977). For the former film, she received a nomination for the Golden Globe Award for Best Young Actress.

In 2002, Reddy ended her career in show business, left the United States and retired for a few years on the Australian Norfolk Island back. She now lives in Sydney and works as a sleep therapist. Published in 2006, Reddy her autobiography The Woman I Am. A musical comeback they rule out multiple times.

Private

Reddy has been suffering for many years from a hypofunction of the adrenal cortex, which must be continuously treated. She is patron of the non-profit organization Australian Addison's Disease Association Inc., which works to pay more attention on the disease in public.
