Hélène Carrère d'Encausse

Hélène Carrère d' Encausse called Carrère, née Hélène Zourabichvili ( born July 6, 1929 in Paris ) is a French historian.

Life

Hélène Carrère - daughter of Georges Zourabichvili and Nathalie of Pelken - studied at the Institut d' études politiques de Paris. Since 1999 she is perpétuel as Secrétaire at the top of the Académie française, which was founded in 1635. In the history of the institution Hélène Carrère is the first woman in this line feature. The historian specializing in the history of Russia and the Soviet Union.

Their son Emmanuel Carrère ( born 1957 ) is an author and screenwriter. A cousin is the Franco- Georgian politician and former Foreign Minister of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili.
