Helgi Kolviðsson

Helgi Kolvidsson (* September 13, 1971 in Reykjavík ) is a former Icelandic football player and current football coach.

Career

Kolvidsson began his career as a teenager at HK Kópavogur before moving to local rivals IK Kópavogur. From there he went to Germany for regional division SC Pfullendorf. In 1996 he moved to Austria to SC Austria Lustenau. This was achieved in the first season, the second division championship and thus the rise in the Austrian Bundesliga. The following season, the league was almost done.

In 1998, Kolvidsson back to Germany and hired the then second division club FSV Mainz 05 to 1. There the Defensive Allrounder became a regular player. After two years he went to the Premiership relegation SSV Ulm 1846. With this he missed the league and returned to Austria. When FC Kärnten Kolvidsson ran for three years in the Bundesliga. In 2004 he returned to his former workplace to Pfullendorf, where he played until 2008.

Kolvidsson played 29 international matches for the Icelandic national football team.

After the dismissal of Michael Feichtenbeiner in April 2008, he took over on an interim basis the SC Pfullendorf. From 2008 to 2010 he worked as an assistant coach under head coach Walter Schneck. For the 2010/11 season he was coach of the club, which he left to the end of the season once again, to take over as coach of the Austrian first division club Austria Lustenau at start of season 2011/12. In January 2013 he was elected to Vorarlberg's coach of the year 2012.
