There are varieties and forms of Heliamphora heterodoxa known and are described, some authors see this as distinct species:

  • Heliamphora heterodoxa Maguire & Steyerm. var exappendiculata
  • Heliamphora heterodoxa f glabella Steyerm.
  • Heliamphora glabra heterodoxa f Steyerm.

Occurrence

Heliamphora Heliamphora heterodoxa lives like all species on the tepuis, the table mountains of South America. It grows in the state of Bolivar in the south of Venezuela on the Auyán - Tepui at altitudes above 2000 meters. The varieties of Heliamphora heterodoxa can be found on the adjacent mesas, such as the Ptari - Tepui, Chimanta - Tepui, Churi - tepui and the Mt Serra do Sol.

They are found in sunny locations preferably in constantly damp plants cushions.
